On May 11, Sofiyivska Square in central Kyiv will be transformed into an art work.

A huge composition made of thousand wooden painted Easter eggs will be erected there. And when we say “huge,” we mean eight-story building-type huge. This impressive art installation authored by Ukraine’s Oksana Mas is called “The Altar Of Nations,” and was called one of the best displays at the 54th Venice Biennale last year, the biggest and the most prestigious contemporary art exhibition that takes place every other year.
The presentation of the art work will be accompanied by the Kyiv camerata, Ukraine’s National soloists ensemble. After Kyiv, the eggs will tour Ukraine’s largest cities, to bring high art to the masses.
The Altar of nations presentation. May 11-13. 8 p.m. Sofiivska square. Free.
Wooden egg painting master classes: May 12. 4 p.m. Free
