You're reading: Ethno jazz and guitar

Enver Izmaylov, one of Europe’s most prominent guitarists, will treat Kyiv’s audience to his unique version of ethno jazz.

In his music, the Uzbekistan-born musician fuses Slavic folk tunes with jazz-rock rhythmic formulas.

He has come up with unique arrangements of traditional Tatar, Uzbek and Bulgarian melodies.

Izmaylov has an original guitar technique called “tapping,” which requires a challenging technique of tapping on the strings and picking at the same time.

His program in Kyiv “From Moscow to the very suburbs” will include compositions by the “Beatles,” and the musician’s favorite Indian and Eastern melodies, as well as throat singing.

Izmaylov currently resides in Ukraine.
