You're reading: Georgian polyphony

If you feel like a departure from a typical pop-music scene, a concert of Georgian polyphonic singing might be a delightful cultural outing.

The Georgian Patriarch Choir will perform a repertoire of medieval polyphonic chants, as well as popular and folklore works of Georgian contemporary composers.

The choir has a special mission in Kyiv – supporting talented Ukrainian orphans. The funds raised from the concert will go towards organization of the Ukrainian children’s festival “Facing the Dream.”

Notably, Georgian polyphonic singing has been named the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, protected by UNSECO.
