The legendary U.S. rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers is in Kyiv now to give a concert on July 6, and its members have been exploring the city.

The band’s Michael Peter Balzary, better known under his
stage name Flea, and named the second-best bassist of all time by the Rolling
Stones magazine, has tried his hand at a Ukrainian folk string instrument, the bandura.

Flea was filmed played the bandura at the apartment of Ukrainian
model Nadia Shapoval, where he and other band members were hanging out on July
4. Shapoval posted an Instagram video of Flea tackling the multi-stringed
instrument.

The musician seemed confused by the sheer number of the instrument’s
strings, asking “Which one is the middle, like the center string?” The
60-string bandura is considered one of the toughest instruments in the world to
learn to play.

Meanwhile, Red Hot Chili Peppers front man Anthony Kiedis
was spotted walking down Andryivsky Uzviz, one of Kyiv’s top tourist
attractions, on July 5.

A photo of the star on the street was published on the
Facebook page of Tipichnyi Kyiv, which posts local news and user-generated
content.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headliners at the music
festival U-Park held on July 6 at the Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv, along with The
Kills, Nothing But Thieves and Ukrainian band The Hardkiss.
