PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Day 3 of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia was jam-packed with top-notch speakers, and a relentless attack on the Republican nominee, Donald Trump.

Highlighting the speakers list was vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine, Vice President Joe Biden, businessman Michael Bloomberg, and the cleanup hitter was the one and only president of the United States, Barack Obama.

Hard to say who was better. You can see for yourself on C-Span. However, in my humble opinion, Biden hit the ball out of the park. Biden was extraordinary. He really made the case that Trump cannot be trusted, not just with the nuclear codes, but not with the economy, not with social justice, not with anything.

The common theme of all the speakers was that Trump has a history of failure, lawsuits, bankruptcies, disputes with workers left without salary, contracts broken – all in the name of good business. Indeed, if Trump would run the United States the way he runs his businesses, we really would say to ourselves, “What a country!”

Obama mesmorized the crowd of 40,000 jammed into an arena normally designed to hold 25,000 people maximum.

It really was quite amazing to see Obama do his thing in person. Watching live with my own two eyes I had the feeling I was watching someone great like Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, or John Kennedy.

In another surprise ending for the convention, after Obama’s speech, Hillary Clinton appeared on stage, and the two of them exchanged a sincere embrace and walked arm-in-arm to everyone’s enthusiastic applause and approval.

Away from the convention, the continuing drama that is the story of American politics also added to the serial nature of this election year.

The erstwhile new American Caesar decided to enlist the support of the Russian Security Services to locate emails of Clinton. In a world as dangerous as Trump describes, he really has a fascination with Clinton’s emails. You would think he would have something more important to discuss. However, it seems that that is not the case.

By attempting to enlist the security forces of a foreign government to investigate a former Secretary of State and presidential candidate, Trump has once again crossed the line of normal political behavior.

This development accentuated a pattern of behavior that is neither indicative of qualities necessary for leadership of the United States of America, nor is it normal at a personal level.

Even Trump’s new vice presidential nominee, Mike Pence, walked away from this suggestion. In fact, many prominent Republicans walked away from the idea that we should enlist foreign spy agencies to investigate our own leaders.

Having spent years as an educator, working with all kinds of students from the very very brightest, to students with some serious handicaps, I’m beginning to conclude the Donald Trump suffers from a emotional disability.

I really do genuinely have sympathy and understanding for people with emotional disabilities. If this was simply the case of a normal citizen, I would also have empathy for Donald Trump.

However, in this case, the danger of Trump becoming president of the United States is so profound for not just our country, but for the entire planet, that’s it does not allow for such sympathies. Trump is indeed right in one regard that we are in a very dangerous world. And the most dangerous condition in this world today is the danger thatTrump could in fact be elected president of the United States.
