Ancient Ukrainian men’s and women’s costumes shown on Kyiv hills

May 22, during the second Touris Festival ‘Welcome to Ukrainians’ the fashion show of folk costumes ‘Colorful Ukraine’ was held. The festival guests could see women’s and men’s costumes of the end of XIX – beginning of XX century.

The models demonstrated costumes of West Polissia (Sarny district, Rivne Oblast), Kyiv oblast, Borshchiv district, Ternopil Oblast; Myrhorod and Hadiach districts, Poltava oblast, Novohrad-Volynsk district, Zhytomyr Oblast; Zinkiv village of Khmelnytskyi Oblast; Bukovyna, Volodymerets district, Rivne Oblast; Zakarpattia, Baturyn district, Chernihiv Oblast, Chyhyryn district, Cherkasy Oblast, Sosnivka district, Chernihiv Oblast, Sharhorod district, Vinnytsia oblast, and Crimean Tatar costumes as well.

Ukrainian vyshyvanka covers ‘Glamour Paris’ magazine

Constance Jablonski, a French model of Polish origin, appeared on the front page of Glamour Paris magazine dressed in Ukrainian vyshyvanka.

The dress of MARCH11 brand costs £871, and clothes is sold on the biggest luxury retail net-a-porter.com.

MARCH11 was founded by Ukrainian stylist Robert Mishchenko in 2015 in New York (the production is based in Ukraine).

It should be mentioned that just very big and famous brands such as Chanel and Louis Vuitton are published on the Glamour Paris front page.

Marko Topchii wins the competition in Montenegro

Ukrainian guitarist Marko Topchii won the 10th Anniversary Montenegro International Guitar Competition. The second place went to the Italian and the third to Croatian musician.

This is the third Marko’s victory this year (after the victory in San Francisco and Sofia) and 29th first prize won at the international classic guitar competitions (United States, Mexico, Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Portugal, Liechtenstein, Serbia, Ukraine.)

Kyiv-Mohyla Academy students win Tedlers International Moot Court Competition

Students of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy – Taras Varava, Oleksandr Plachynta, Oleh Dykyi, Olya Kotliarska, Maksym Dvorovyi – won the largest European competition in international law, Telders International Moot Court Competition, held annually in the Hague.

Telders International Moot Court Competition was founded in 1977. According to the competition rules the national round consists of two parts – written and oral. First, teams study the case based on fictional interstate dispute to be submitted to the UNO International Court.

Each team has to present two memoranda (written arguments) on behalf of plaintiff and defendant, and take part in two court hearings.

This year the debate topic was the seizure of the vessel in the open sea.
