Taras
Lialchuk, 29, project manager, Dnipropetrovsk

I
came with demand of peaceful rallies, which the authorities tried to
stop a week ago by dispersing a peaceful protest. I believe many
people here have the same demands. I came here for one day, and I’m
ready to come back to Kyiv in a week.

I
want those in power to stop lawlessness. They should sign an
association agreement as they promised. My second demand it to stop
repressions against students, the young people who were asserting
their rights and they were violently beaten for that. I’ll
definitely come here again.

Oksana
Yurkevych, 38, university professor, Kyiv

I
came here to support people’s will to oust the authorities. Those
in power showed unworthy attitude to people when they allowed that
bloody crackdown a week ago. I’m coming here every day since early
December and I will definitely come back to Maidan.

Liudmyla
Kedria, 50, public activist, Kyiv

I’m
here because I support our youth. I also support pro-European policy.
Previous policies brought Ukraine into decay, so we definitely have
to move in another direction as otherwise it will be a disaster. I
was at Maidan in 2004, and now I’m happy to see this new Maidan. I
would even sleep here if my health allows this.

Olena
Dmytrenko, 21, marketologist, Kyiv

I
want my country to be changed for better and for this I’m sure we
need to change those in power. If we don’t achieve changes, we
should not expect anything good. I’m sure in a week the rally will
be much bigger, and I will definitely come here again.

Sergiy
Lapin, 45, construction worker, Uman, Cherkasy region

I
came here to see what’s going on here. It’s very interesting
thought I haven’t seen everything yet. I support these people here
as I’m also against Yanukovych. And maybe I’ll come back again.
