PFTS opens down on low liquidity

PFTS opens down on low liquidity
The beginning of the week on the PFTS is characterized by low liquidity and the lack of activity, Tiger Asset Management reports.

As of noon, the total trading volume was about $11.5 million with $11.2 million on governmental and corporative bonds.

The best example characterizing the moods of the market players is that in the period from 11:00 to 12:00 only 1 deal on stocks was concluded. The “lucky” issuer was Enakievo Metallurgical Plant that dropped 3.8 percent.

This situation demonstrates that market participants got tired of uncertainty: inactive market, the lack of new ideas, political turmoil and national currency instability. The negative news from the global markets adds to the local market depression.

The PFTS' year-high peak of 1198.22 came on Jan. 17 and followed a 130 percent rise in 2007. However, since the beginning of 2008, the PFTS index has fallen by more than 75 percent from the Jan. 1 start at 1160.34.
