Naftogaz owes nothing to Gazprom, says company's press center

21 November 2008, 14:40 | Interfax-Ukraine
Kyiv, November 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) - The national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy owes nothing to Russia's Gazprom, according to a statement released by the company's press center.

"The company notes that it has no due debts to Gazprom, and is calling on the media, politicians and experts to end artificial speculation on this issue, as it might have a negative effect on the negotiations on gas supplies to Ukraine in 2009," the press service said.

"Naftogaz Ukrainy points out that in 2008, the only supplier of natural gas imported to Ukraine is RosUkrEnergo Company," Naftogaz said.

"According to natural gas agreements, the debt for gas consumed by Naftogaz Ukrainy in 2008 is $1.267 billion," the company said.
