European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger will meet with Slovak Energy Minister Tomas Malatinsky and Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan in Bratislava on April 24, a spokesperson for the European Commission told Interfax in Brussels.

“The three parties agreed to meet in this format in order to prepare the agreement on the Memorandum of Understanding on reverse flows from Slovakia to Ukraine. The Commission is confident that the Memorandum of Understanding on reverses flows can be signed as soon as possible between the two pipeline operators in Slovakia (Eustream) and in the Ukraine (Uktransgas),” the source said.

“This would mark a first step toward increased security of supply for Ukraine,” he said.
