The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has sent a proposal to the Finance Ministry asking for it to provide an additional Hr 2 billion from the national budget to support agriculture in 2015.

“We’ve submitted an additional new proposal to the Finance Ministry for almost Hr 2 billion where we see subventions and subsidies today, including the proposal to increase sums for compensation of credit rates to almost Hr 1.2 billion. This is a fourfold increase,” Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Oleksiy Pavlenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on June 18.

The minister said that the proposals also include subsidies for the development of horticulture and cattle breeding.

Pavlenko said that at present, the national budget does not have a chance of increasing subventions for the agricultural complex. Everything will depend on new sources to replenish the budget, he said.
