Ambassador: Gas contract with Ukraine must run until 2020

Russian Ambassador Mikhail Zurabov says new agreement between Ukraine and Russia should be valid until 2020.

A new agreement between Ukraine and Russia should be valid until 2020, said Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov. "One should take into account that the agreement must be signed not for one year or two. Apparently, (it should be signed) for a period until 2020," he said at a briefing after voting in the Russian presidential election in Kyiv on Sunday.

What the two countries are preparing today are not just changes to a gas contract but an inter-governmental agreement, Zurabov said.
