Ukrainian pharmaceutical companies have learned to produce medicines that are as good as similar imported products, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

“We’ve learned how to produce medicines that are as good as imported ones, because our enterprises underwent modernization and now use modern equipment,” he told reporters after visiting the Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center for Endocrine Surgery and Transplantation of Endocrine Organs and Tissues in Kyiv on Thursday.

Azarov examined medicines for hypertension patients, noting that, for example, Ukrainian medicines of this kind cost about Hr 5, while their imported analogues cost about Hr 16. He said that domestic medicines are in no way inferior. He said it was important that Ukrainians could buy high-quality and reliable medicines in drugstores.
