Azarov: Security system in public places to be created in several years

The government will complete work on the creation of a security system in public places in several years, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"We will complete this program in several years," the media liaisons department of the secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine quoted Azarov as saying during his visit to Mykolaiv region on Friday.

"We have decided to create centers of rapid response throughout the country and install Web cameras in crowded places: shops, cafes and restaurants, from which the information will be transmitted to a single control center, where a duty officer will track it on monitors," he said.

Azarov said that this would help police officers respond to offences more quickly.
