Ukraine has sufficient sugar stocks and local authorities should prevent an unjustified increase in sugar prices, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said.
"We have more than sufficient sugar stocks. A month ago we did not know what to do with them. Therefore the increase in the sugar price, let's say, to Hr 8 is an absolute omission of the local authorities," the premier said in an interview with Poltava Regional TRK (TV and Radio Company) in Myrhorod (Poltava region)on Thursday, Aug.16.
"If some region needs additional 5,000-10,000 tonnes [of sugar] – that's not a problem," Azarov said.
