The draft national budget of Ukraine for 2015 is built on the forecast of an average annual hryvnia to U.S. dollar exchange rate of Hr 12.90 per $1, but this forecast could be revised, Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak has said.

“The situation is changing very quickly, and I admit that the macroeconomic indicators of the budget could be revised,” he said in an interview with Ukraine TV Channel.

Commenting on the current situation on the foreign exchange market, on which in the last days the hryvnia exchange rate once again came to the mark of Hr 14 per $1, the minister expressed confidence that the leadership of the National Bank and commercial bankers would cope with the situation.

“I fully share the view that nervousness we have in the east causes the volatility of the dollar. We have no reason for such a sharp rise in the dollar exchange rate,” Shlapak said.

As reported, in mid-summer this year the Ministry of Finance worsened the forecast for the average hryvnia to U.S. dollar exchange rate in 2014 to Hr 10.5/$1 from Hr 12/$1 due to the effect of the protracted military operations in the east.
