You're reading: Cabinet creates commission to select top managers of state enterprises

The Ukrainian government has set up a commission to select heads of state-owned enterprises and has approved the procedure for its work.

Respective Cabinet resolution No.520 dated July 17, 2015 was posted on the government’s official website on Aug. 3.

The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers will chair the commission, his deputy will work as the commission’s deputy chairman, and the director of the Cabinet secretariat’s department for the effective management of state will be the secretary of the commission.

The commission also includes deputy ministers from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade, the Ministry for Energy and Coal Industry, the Infrastructure Ministry, the Health Ministry, the Ministry for Regional Development, construction and Housing and Utilities, and the Finance and the Justice Ministries. The commission will also consist of the chairman of the National Agency on Civil Service, the director of the Cabinet secretariat’s departments for security, defense and justice, and the director of the Cabinet secretariat’s department for personnel. Representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine and the European Business Association may be included upon their consent.

According to the commission’s regulations, its meetings are considered to be legitimate in case of participation of at least two-thirds of its members, and decisions are taken by majority vote of those present. If voting is tied, the Chairman’s vote is decisive.
