You're reading: Coal Energy boosts coal sales by 8.3% in nine months

Luxembourg-based Coal Energy S.A. with assets in Ukraine in January-September 2012 boosted coal sales by 8.3%, or 106,000 tonnes, year-over-year, to 1.376 million tonnes.

As the company reported on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on Friday, in particular, sales of thermal coal in the first nine months this year increased by 9.8%, to 1.18 million tonnes, while coking coal output remained at last year’s level of 196,000 tonnes.

In the first quarter of the 2013 financial year, Coal Energy’s thermal coal sales grew by 13.6%, to 330,000 tonnes, and coking coal sales rose by 8.3%, to 65,000 tonnes.

According to rough estimates, the company’s sales in the first quarter of FY2013 totaled $39.4 million.

Coal Energy comprises 10 coalmines, along with waste coal processing and coal treatment facilities. It sells coal to thermal power generating companies, coking coal and chemicals plants, cement plants, and municipal authorities. It also exports coal to Bulgaria, Slovakia, Moldova and Turkey.
