You're reading: Competition committee fines Lviv distillery Hr 100,000 for use of ABSOLUT name

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has fined private joint-stock company Lviv distillery UAH 100,000 for the use of the ABSOLUT name without the permit of Sweden's Absolut Company Aktiebolag, reads a report of the committee issued on Monday.

The report says that Lviv distillery produced under ABSOLUTE LVOV, ABSOLUTE LVOV GOLD and ABSOLUTE LVOV PLATINUM brands.

“As Absolut Company Aktiebolag did not present the permit for the use of the name, the actions of [Lviv distillery] are declared as violation of competition legislation,” reads the report.

The committee said that during the calculation of the fine it was taken into account that the distillery recognized its infringement and stopped using the ABSOLUTE name.

Lviv distillery was commissioned in 1931. The closed joint-stock company was founded in 2000 as an associated member of the Ukrspyrt concern.

Absolut Company produces ABSOLUT VODKA, Malibu, Kahlua, Wyborowa, Luksusowa, etc. The company is part of the Pernod Ricard Group.
