The National council for television and radio broadcasting in Ukraine does not plan to intervene in a conflict between the Triolan cable operator and TVi channel and believes that the conflict is purely economic, reads a posting on the regulator on its Web site on August 9, 2012.
"The national council several times said that the conflict between TVi and the group of providers united under the Triolan trademark is only an economic one, so it should be settled in this sphere," the council said.
In addition, the regulator does not plan to check the companies in the period until the end of parliamentary election in the country, as under Ukrainian law, checks of license holder is to be stopped during the election campaign.
On July 20, 2012, TVi channel declared the exclusion of the channel from the cable networks of the Triolan trademark, and residents of 11 towns of Ukraine were deprived of a chance to watch the channel. TVi linked this with a pressure being imposed on the channel.
