Simferopol - The parliament of Crimea has nationalized land in the village of Foros on the southern coast of the peninsula owned by Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

On Sept. 10, the Crimean State Council added five land sites in Foros, which have a total area of over 65 hectares, to the list of property that has been made property of the Republic of Crimea in accordance with a decision made by the State Council on Sept. 3.

The Crimean parliament has also added markets located in Sevastopol and Krasnoperekopsk to the list of the nationalized property of the Krympotrebsoyuz enterprise.

A week ago, the Crimean State Council nationalized Kolomoisky’s property in Crimea. “The property owned by Mr Kolomoisky will be sold at auction and the money will be used to pay compensation for deposits (of residents of Crimea in Kolomoisky’s PrivatBank) which are not subject to compensation from the Depositor Protection Fund,” Sergei Aksionov, acting head of Crimea, said.

Aksionov said the nationalization of Kolomoisky’s property is due to the fact that PrivatBank has failed to fulfil its obligations to Crimean depositors and did not repay the money in their accounts.

“We will repay all debts that the Depositor Protection Fund cannot repay at the expense of the founders of PrivatBank,” Aksionov said, adding that one of the reasons for the nationalization of Kolomoisky’s property was that he is among the people who initiated and financed the military operation in eastern Ukraine.

“I believe it is our moral right and our duty to conduct this nationalization,” Aksionov said.

Aksionov told reporters a chain of gas stations and Kolomoisky’s properties located on the southern coast of Crimea will be among the nationalized property sold at auction.
