LUXEMBOURG - The Czech Republic considers it possible to provide Ukraine with funds to pay part of the debt for Russian gas, however, only after receiving guarantees of the implementation of real steps to fight corruption.

There must be a guarantee that reforms will start in Ukraine and that they will fight against corruption, Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek told journalists in Luxembourg on Oct. 20.

Such guarantees must be provided before any money is allocated to Ukraine, he added.

As reported, Poland put forward the initiative to provide Ukraine with financial aid to help pay for the gas debt to ensure gas supply to Europe in winter.
