You're reading: Danone-Ukraine wants to boost investment by 37% in 2013

Danone-Ukraine, one of the largest dairy producers in Ukraine, plans in 2013 to increase investment by 37%, to over Hr 100 million, the company's press service has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The company said that the funds would be spent on improving the quality of products and expanding their range.

The press service said that in 2012, Danone-Ukraine invested around Hr 73 million in upgrading its enterprises, including over Hr 12 million in the Kyiv-based Galacton plant, Hr 21 million in Danone-Dnipro (Kherson) and over Hr 40 million in Kremenchuk municipal dairy.

In addition, this year the company will continue supporting dairy farming and cooperative development projects in Ukraine and invest over Hr 1 million in social projects.

As reported, in November 2012, Danone-Ukraine among other initiators of the project launched a cooperative instructional farm in Dnipropetrovsk region. The first phase of the farm will have 60 cows. The opening of the second phase with another 60 cows was scheduled for H1, 2013.

Danone is a world leader in the production of dairy products. It has been operating in Ukraine since 1998.

Since June 2010, as a result of the merger of Danone and Unimilk, the Ukrainian assets of Danone-Unimilk have included three factories: Danone-Dnipro, where more than 80% of the Danone products made in Ukraine are produced, Galacton in Kyiv, and Kremez in Kremenchuk. In Ukraine, the company sells dairy products under the trademarks of Actimel, Activia, Rastishka, Danissimo, Zhyvynka, Vesely Pastushok, BioBalance, Tioma, Prostokvashino, Galacton and Smesharyky.
