The deficit of Ukraine's balance of payments in February 2015 was estimated at $743 million, which was 65.5 percent down on February 2014 ($2.139 billion) and 16.5 percent down on January 2015 ($890 million), the National Bank of Ukraine reported on its website.

“In February 2015, the deficit of the consolidated balance of payments amounted to $743 million, which was $1.4 billion down from February 2014 ($2.1 billion), due to a decline in outflows of assets from the financial account,” the report said.

The deficit of the capital and financial accounts in February 2015 stood at $338 million, which was 80.8 percent down on February 2014 and 36.3 percent down on January 2015.

At the same time, the deficit of the current account rose in February 2015 by 2.5 percent year-over-year to $405 million. Its increase against January 2015 was 12.8 percent.

“The contraction of goods exports continued accelerating against January and made up 34.1 percent year-over-year, nominal [export] volumes were $3.2 billion. Almost all key groups of commodities saw a decline in exports. The annual rate of a decline in goods imports remained at the level of January, being 32.9 percent, while nominal volumes stood at $3.7 billion,” the report said.
