You're reading: Deficit of Ukraine’s budget general fund in September comes to 5.4 billion hryvnias

The deficit of the general fund of the national budget of Ukraine in September was Hr 5.4 billion, while in August its surplus stood at Hr 1.06 billion, reads a report on the Ministry of Finance's website. 

According to its data, in the first nine months of 2014 the deficit of the general fund of the budget amounted to Hr 32.35 billion, which is 16.5% better than the figure for the first nine months of last year.

The Ministry of Finance clarifies that the surplus of the special fund of the national budget in September was Hr 480 million.

In the first nine months of 2014, the deficit of the special fund amounted to Hr 7.77 billion against Hr 3.53 billion in surplus in the same period last year. This is due to the fact that in July-August this year VAT bonds and government domestic loan bonds worth Hr 6.7 billion and UAH 3.7 billion respectively were issued for subventions to local budgets to cover the difference in tariffs.

In general, the national budget deficit in September increased by Hr 4.92 billion against Hr 2.42 billion in August this year and Hr 460 million in September last year and for the first nine months of 2014 reached Hr 40.13 billion, which is 14% higher than over the nine months of last year and comes to 49.9% of the annual target.
