Head of Donetsk Region Military-Civilian Administration Pavlo Zhebrivsky has said that one of the main objectives of coal sector authorities is to return the illegally privatized enrichment plants and rich coal deposits, including those registered to MAKO Corporation of Oleksandr Yanukovych, the son of Viktor Yanukovych, to state ownership.

“In the times of Yanukovych the most attractive of them moved to the ownership of the president’s son – they were registered for MAKO Corporation and related firms. Law enforcement agencies [have been] tasked to return the illegally seized state facilities,” he said at an expanded working meeting with the heads of state coal mining enterprises in the region.

According to the press service of the regional administration, Zhebrivsky also intends to address the government on the adoption of the state program to support coal enterprises in Donetsk region.

“The matter will include the questions of capital investment in mines. At the same time, companies will have a clear goal: the deadline for reaching profit is the second half of 2016. According to our preliminary estimates, this is realistic,” he said.

Zhebrivsky said that the key task faced by regional authorities is to consider the possibility and timing of coal enterprises making profitable production.
