Donetsk-based private joint-stock company Media-Press which publishes the "Salon Million Announcements" local publication and "RIO" local weekly will join Kyiv-based private joint-stock company Segodnya Multimedia, the parent company of the eponymous publishing holding of the SCM Group.

According to a media report, the decision was made by shareholders in Media-Press in the middle of December 2011.

Currently, CJSC Segodnya Multimedia includes the Segodnya, Vecherniy Donetsk, Donetskie Novosti, Salon Dona i Basa, RIO, Priazovskiy Rabochiy, Mariupolskaya Nedelya, Dom Sovetov, and Privet Rebiata newspapers, and a number of online portals.

The holding owns a newspaper printing plant in Vyshgorod (Kyiv region).

The Segodnya newspaper, one of leaders of the Ukrainian daily publications, is the main project of the holding.

The general daily circulation of the Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Crimea, Western Ukrainian and national issues is about 155,000.

In 2010 Segodnya Multimedia saw a consolidated net profit of $2 million, while in 2009 its loss was $6.1 million.

The holding’s sales were 23.7% down, to $9 million, and its negative EBITDA dropped by 23%, to $1 million.

Closed joint-stock company Media-Press was founded in 1996. It has been part of Segodnya Multimedia since 2008.

Until recently the company was one of the largest publishers in Donetsk region.

Until January 2011, the company published Salon Dona & Basa local newspaper founded in 1992.

The net income of Media-Press in 2009 fell by 37.6%, to Hr 4.34 million, while in 2010 it fell by 6.3%, to Hr 4.06 million.

The net loss of the Donetsk company in 2009 soared by 3.6 times, to Hr 2.62 million and in 2010 it fell by 3.7%, to Hr 2.52 million.
