The forecast price of electricity on the wholesale electricity market of Ukraine from December 1, 2012 will remain unchanged at UAH 686.16 per megawatt-hour (VAT not included), the National Commission for Energy Regulation (NCER) has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The decision is stipulated in commission resolution No. 1474 dated November 20, 2012.

The price has remained at the present level since June 2012.

Thus, the forecast wholesale market price of electricity in December 2012 from December 2011 grew by 10.6%: UAH 620.32 to UAH 686.16 per megawatt-hour (VAT not included).

The commission recalculates the forecast wholesale electricity market price every month, taking into account the expected cost of its production. Energy supply companies take the forecast wholesale electricity market price into account when calculating electricity retail tariffs.

The National Commission for Energy Regulation regulates the activity of monopoly entities in the energy sector and oil and gas industries, and implements state price and tariff setting policies in these spheres.
