You're reading: Energy minister discusses cooperation in modernization of power plants with Chinese ambassador to Ukraine

Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn and Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun have discussed a possibility of cooperation in the realization of projects on the modernization of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) an combined heat and power plants (CHPPs).

According to the report of the ministry’s press service, at a meeting held on Jan. 27 Demchyshyn also confirmed Ukraine’s interest in the realization of a project on the construction of synthesis gas facilities consuming Ukrainian coal (for the needs of chemical enterprises) and synthetic natural gas (SNG, for households) on the basis of the agreement signed by national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy and the China Development Bank Corporation earlier.

The minister also reminded the positive experience in attracting Chinese loans for the modernization of Melnykov mine (Lysychanskvuhillia) and expressed hope that the funds will be raised for modernization of other Ukrainian coalmines.
