The European Union will provide financial aid to Ukraine if Russia unilaterally increases the prices of gas for Ukraine during the period when the interim agreement is in effect, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a meeting of the anti-crisis energy center on Oct. 31.

“We have understanding with the European Commission that if Russia tries to unilaterally increase the prices of gas, as it was dozens of time, then we’ll receive financial aid from our European partners as the compensation of the difference in the price,” he said.

Yatseniuk also said that Russia will supply gas in winter period to Ukraine in the period of 36 hours after receiving advance payments as a part of the agreements signed on Oct. 31.

“We pay and gas is to be delivered to us within 36 hours,” he said.

The premier also said that in part of the transit contract between Ukraine and Russia the agreement foresees that the fee for transit of Russian gas will be sent directly to Naftogaz Ukrainy, and no Russia’s proposed offsetting of debts is used.
