You're reading: Forbes: Top 100 richest Ukrainians headed by Akhmetov becomes poorer by 23.6 percent in a year

 The wealth of the top 100 richest Ukrainians narrowed by $13 billion or 23.6 percent in a year, to $42 billion, Forbes-Ukraine said in a rating published on May 29.

According to the publication, the unchanged leader of the past years and the only shareholder in the largest Ukrainian holding SCM – Rinat Akhmetov – lost $4.2 billion or 27.3 percent since April 2013 (when the previous rating was published), and it wealth is assessed at $11.2 billion now.

 The owner of EastOne Victor Pinchuk is still second with $3 billion, while a year ago its wealth was assessed at $3.8 billion.

Hennadiy Boholiubov is third with $2 billion, climbing from the fifth position last year and replacing his partner in PrivatBank, Ihor Kolomoisky, in the top three richest Ukrainians. Boholiubov the only person from the top ten managed to increase its wealth by $300 million, maybe, thanks to his ConsMin mining company with assets in Australia and Ghana.

Wealth of Kolomoisky who became Dnipropetrovsk region governor in spring 2014 narrowed by one fourth, to $1.8 billion.

Senior partner of Akhmetov in Metinvest mining and steel holding, the owner of Smart-holding and MP Vadim Novinsky is fifth with the decline from $1.9 billion to $1.4 billion.

The owner of Roshen Corporation and recently elected Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko and a majority shareholder in MHP Yuriy Kosiuk have $1.3 billion each ($1.6 billion a year ago), the owner of Finance and Credit Group and a majority shareholder in Ferrexpo mining company Kostiantyn Zhevaho has $1.1 billion ($1.5 billion), the owner of TAS Group and MP Sergiy Tigipko – $1 billion ($1.2 billion) and Oleksandr Yaroslavsky whose assets are untied in DCH Group – $932 million ($980 million).

A majority shareholder in Kernel agro-holding Andriy Verevsky did not enter the top ten richest Ukrainians as he did in the previous year: his wealth fell from $1 billion to $667 million and allowed former owner of Pravex Bank and former Kyiv mayor Leonid Cheronovetsky be 11th with smaller losses over the year – from $750 million to $675 million.

The publication said that each tenth rich Ukrainian from the top 100 managed to increase its wealth. Eight new Ukrainians entered the top 100, and the most successful was a majority shareholder in Creative Group MP Stanislav Berezkin who was 22nd with $324 million.

In the global rating published by Forbes in late April, Akhmetov fell from 47th to 92nd position and Pinchuk from 353rd to 542nd position.

Only Boholiubov managed to improve its positions in the global rating, climbing from 882nd to 874th position, while his partner in PrivatBank Kolomoisky – fell from 613th position to 1,016th.

The global rating also includes Novinsky (1,098th) with $1.6 billion, Kosiuk (1,201st) with $1.5 bilion, Poroshenko (1,338th) with $1.3 billion, Zhevaho (1,535th) with $1.1 billion and Tigipko (1,575th) with $1 billion.

Forbes still considers the co-owner of ZTR and Sumy Frunze NPO Konstantin Grigorishin as Russian. His wealth grew from $1.2 billion to $1.3 billion in a year, according to Forbes. The owner of Donetsksteel Viktor Nysenkis is not present in the global rating, although a year ago the publication said that his wealth was $2.2 billion.
