You're reading: Forecast wholesale market price of electricity in Ukraine to grow by 1.3% from April 2012

The forecast price of electricity on the wholesale electricity market of Ukraine from April 1, 2012 will grow by 1.3%, from Hr 670.94 to Hr 679.39 per megawatt-hour (VAT not included), the National Commission for Energy Regulation (NCER) has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The commission expects that in 2012 the forecast price of electricity on the wholesale electricity market will grow by only 10%.

As reported, the forecast price of electricity on the wholesale electricity market of Ukraine from January 1, 2012 grew by 4% or by Hr 24.81, from Hr 620.32 to Hr 645.13 per megawatt hour (value added tax not included), in February it remained unchanged, and in March it grew by 4%, to Hr 670.94.

The forecast price of electricity on the wholesale electricity market of Ukraine in 2011 (December 2010 to December 2011) grew by 23.4%, from
Hr 502.50 to Hr 620.32 per megawatt-hour (value added tax not included).

The commission recalculates the forecast wholesale electricity market price every month, taking into account the expected cost of its production. Energy supply companies take the forecast wholesale electricity market price into account when calculating electricity retail tariffs.

The National Commission for Energy Regulation regulates the activity of monopoly entities in the energy sector and oil and gas industries, and implements state price and tariff setting policies in these spheres.
