Former Acting Finance Minister of Ukraine Ihor Umansky has joined the board of directors of a U.S. gas producer with assets in Ukraine, Great East Energy, the company has announced on the Web site of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Apart from Umansky, Thomas Lanier, the financial expert for developing countries, who was previously a member of the board of Dutch-based Aegon insurer (responsible for development in Central and Eastern Europe) and U.S.-based Lev Pharmaceuticals, also joined the U.S. company’s board of directors.

The appointees’ new responsibilities involve developing a strategy for the further growth and development of Great East Energy, reads the report.

As reported, U.S. Great East Energy owns NPK-Contact LLC methane producer and Lyspromgaz LLC gas supplier (both based in Luhansk region).

NPK-Contact has been engaged in the production of methane on the territory of closed mines Tomashivska Pivdenna and Tomashivska Pivnichna since 2003. It owns two plants for gas processing, and some undersea pipelines. The company’s fields have 12 production wells and five ventilation wells.

Lyspromgaz delivers gas at an unregulated tariff to consumers. In particular, fuel was supplied to Lysychansk-based Proletariy glass plant (gas is used in its foundry) and Lyspy brewery (gas is used in its boiler).
