You're reading: Fozzy Group expands Silpo chain to 229 stores

The Kyiv-based Fozzy Group has opened Silpo supermarkets in Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv and Lozova (Kharkiv region), bringing their total number to 229 trade outlets, reads a press release of the group.

A supermarket of 1,800 square meters with 13 cash desks opened at 1, Yekaterynoslavsky Boulevard in Dnipropetrovsk on April 27.

A supermarket of 2,000 square meters with 14 cash desks opened at 214 Khmelnytskoho Street in Lviv on April 28.

A supermarket of 1,300 square meters with 11 cash desks opened in Lozova on April 28.

The Silpo supermarket chain is part of the Fozzy Group, the largest food retail group in Ukraine. The group’s turnover in 2010 grew by 37.5%, to over UAH 16 billion, while the indicator for 2011 has not yet been disclosed.

The first Silpo supermarket opened in 1998. The total trade area of the chain is around 200,000 square meters. The chain is present in all regions of Ukraine and Crimea.

Fozzy Group has been working in Ukraine since 1997. The group includes Silpo supermarkets, Le Silpo premium format stores, Fora and Bumi convenience stores, Fozzy hypermarkets, Bila Romashka pharmaceutical supermarkets, the Bud Zdorov pharmacy chain and the ringoo personal electronics chain.

Its production division is represented by the Nizhyn canning factory and the Varto poultry farm. Fozzy Group’s restaurant business in Kyiv consists of the following restaurants: U Khromoho Pola (Lame Paul’s), Staromacek, Divan (formerly Prad-A-Café), and La Bodeguita del Medio.
