You're reading: Fozzy Group expands Silpo supermarket chain to 208 stores

The Kyiv-based Fozzy Group has opened Silpo supermarkets in Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv, bringing their total number to 208 stores in the chain in Ukraine, reads a group press release.

A supermarket of about 1,500 square meters with 15 cash desks was opened at 5 Slavy Boulevard in Dnipropetrovsk on Nov. 11.

A supermarket of about 1,700 square meters with 14 cash desks was opened at 62 Peremohy Avenue in Kharkiv on Nov. 16.

At present the Silpo supermarket main is present in all regions of Ukraine and Crimea.

The first Silpo supermarket opened in 1998. The total trade area of the chain is 200,000 square meters.

The Silpo supermarket chain is part of Fozzy Group, the largest on the food retail market in Ukraine. Its turnover in 2010 grew by 37.5%, to over Hr 16 billion.

Fozzy Group has been working in Ukraine since 1997. The group includes Silpo supermarkets, Fora and Bumi convenience stores, Fozzy C&C hypermarkets, Bila Romashka pharmaceutical supermarkets, the Bud Zdorov pharmacy chain and the ringoo personal electronics chain.

Its production division is represented by the Nizhyn canning factory and the Varto poultry farm. Fozzy Group’s restaurant business in Kyiv consists of the following restaurants: U Khromoho Pola (Lame Paul’s), Staromacek, Divan (formerly Prad-A-Café), and La Bodeguita del Medio.
