Fozzy Group expands Silpo supermarket chain to 233

The Kyiv-based Fozzy Group on Aug. 3, 2012 opened two new Silpo supermarkets, in Vinnytsia and in Kharkiv, expanding the chain to 233 outlets in Ukraine.

The Kyiv-based Fozzy Group on Aug. 3, 2012 opened two new Silpo supermarkets, in Vinnytsia and in Kharkiv, expanding the chain to 233 outlets in Ukraine, reads a group press release.

The press release says that the supermarket in Kharkiv, with a gross trade area of around 800 square meters, was opened at 279A, Druzhby Narodiv Street. This is the 18th supermarket of the chain in the city.

In Vinnytsia the supermarket, with 16 checkout desks and a gross trading area of nearly 1,900 square meters, was opened in the Megamall shopping and leisure mall at 17, 600-Aniversary Street. This is the sixth supermarket of the chain in the city.

The Silpo supermarket chain is part of the Fozzy Group, the largest food retail group in Ukraine. The group's turnover in 2011 grew by 30.2%, to over Hr 21 billion, while the indicator for 2010 was 37.5% up on 2009's.

The first Silpo supermarket opened in 1998. The total trade area of the chain is around 200,000 square meters. The chain is present in all regions of Ukraine and Crimea.

Fozzy Group has been working in Ukraine since 1997. The group includes Silpo supermarkets, Le Silpo premium format stores, Fora and Bumi convenience stores, Fozzy hypermarkets, Bila Romashka pharmaceutical supermarkets, the Bud Zdorov pharmacy chain and the ringoo personal electronics chain.

Its production division is represented by the Nizhyn canning factory and the Varto poultry farm.
