TOMSK - Gazprom and the Tomsk Region administration will over the next few months work out a program to increase purchases for the Russian gas giant's operations from local suppliers, company CEO Alexei Miller told reporters in Tomsk on Tuesday.

“A preliminary analysis shows that on a number of equipment items that we buy [in the Tomsk region] we could get a significant reduction in costs – by 15-30%,” Miller said.

This includes automated process control systems, control and measuring instruments, electrical equipment and cable products.

“Generally the products of Tomsk companies are high-tech,” Miller said.

Tomsk Region Governor Sergei Zhvachkin said that resource companies are currently the most promising market for the region’s innovative companies.

“We are engaged in concrete matters, which Tomsk has always been famous for. And we are now bringing together a high-performance energy company and innovative potential,” Zhvachkin told reporters.
