You're reading: Grain stocks in Ukraine 15 percent up on last year

Grain stocks at Ukraine's agribusinesses (except for small-sized ones) and grain storage and processing enterprises as of Sep. 1, 2014 stood at 23.4 million tonnes, which was 15 percent up year-over-year, the State Statistics Service has said.

Wheat stocks by the said date were 16.4 million tonnes, and there were 4.3 million tonnes of barley, 1.3 million tonnes of maize, and 400,000 tonnes of rye.

As of September 1, 2014, grain stocks at agribusinesses alone were 14.6 million tonnes, which was 14 percent up year-over-year. In particular, they had 9.9 million tonnes of wheat, 2.6 million tonnes of barley, 900 tonnes of maize, and 200 tonnes of rye.

Sunflower seeds stocks as of Sep. 1, 2014, were 1.3 million tonnes, which was 9 percent up year-over-year. In particular, agribusinesses had 800,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds in stock (19 percent up).

As reported, Ukraine is finishing harvesting of early crops and starts harvesting late crops, in particular, buckwheat and millet.
