The Ministry of Infrastructure and State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia in the long term plans to start high-speed train services between Kyiv and the regional centers of the country located in a 300-kilometers zone around the capital.

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov,
when opening the Darnytsia technical passenger station in Kyiv on
Wednesday, said that in the near future express trains, which will be
produced in Ukraine and carry about 200 passengers, would run from Kyiv
to Kirovohrad, Chernihiv, Cherkasy and other cities.

In addition, according to the vice premier, now a seasonal high-speed
train service from Kyiv to Crimea is being viewed as an interim
solution.

“If it is possible to make it so that passengers could depart from
Kyiv station at 0000 and arrive in Simferopol in the morning – we will
go for such an experiment,” said Kolesnikov.

Speaking on the development of high-speed train traffic on the
Kyiv-Moscow route, the minister said that the issue would be discussed
if there were a significant increase in the passenger flow on the route,
and there was enough demand.
