The "Investing in Ukrainian Food and Agriculture" business forum will be held in London on September 15, the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine reported on Aug. 17.

The ministry said that the co-organizers of the forum are the ministry and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The event will be co-chaired by Agricultural Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Pavlenko and the EBRD’s Director for Agribusiness Gilles Mettetal.

“The business forum “Investing in Ukrainian Food and Agriculture” will be a good opportunity to show the investment potential of the national agricultural sector to international society and inform on the course of reforms in the sector, as they promote the protection of rights of investors and facilitate development of agribusiness in Ukraine,” Pavlenko said in the report.

International investors, representatives of banks and financial institutions, members of the Ukrainian government, representatives of Ukrainian agricultural associations and leading agricultural companies are to take part in the forum.

EBRD Principal Adviser for External Affairs Anton Usov told Interfax-Ukraine that the key players and exporters of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, including Astarta, Nibulon, Kernel, etc, will be present at the event.

“It is hard to hold [the forum] in Kyiv, they are afraid to come here. London is the financial capital of Europe. There are many people there whom we can conscribe to participate in the even: specialists who work with various aspects of the agribusiness segment. If you want a serious forum for attracting [investment], of course, this is made in London,” he said.
