The management of the Ukrainian capital's power company Kyivenergo and experts from Germany's RWE Power International have discussed the possibility of working together in the construction of heat-generating facilities fueled by alternative sources of energy, particularly biomass, a Kyivenergo press statement says.

“As a result of the meeting, the RWE experts will present their proposals on possible work on the development of a feasibility study and designing new facilities in thermal energy using alternative sources of energy, particularly biomass,” the statement says.

The parties also talked about the possibility of working together in the reconstruction of existing combined heat and power plants and the Energiya incineration plant.

The German experts visited heat and power plant-5, heat and power plant-6, ST Pozniaky, and Energiya.

Taking part in the meeting from Kyivenergo were director for strategic planning Ivan Heliukh and management from the structural isolated subdivisions Kyiv Heat and Power Plants and Kyiv District Heating Networks.

Kyivenergo operates almost all power facilities in Kyiv, with the exception of the Darnytsia heat and power plant.

The major vertically integrated Ukrainian power holding DTEK owns 72.33% of the stock in Kyivenergo. Another 25% plus one share belongs to national stock company Energy Company of Ukraine.
