You're reading: Luhansk region miners will get wages for January – Luhansk administration

Part of the debt owed to the miners of Lysychanskvuhillia and Pervomaiskvuhillia (Luhansk region) has been repaid and funds have been received to repay wage arrears for January, the press service of the head of Luhansk regional military and civil administration has reported.

“Due to a lack of sales there are huge wage arrears owed to miners, which could lead to social tension in the region. Three days ago, part of the debt (including December last year) has been repaid, and now another Hr 27 million has come from the budget. This money will be enough for wage payments to miners for January,” reads the report.

In addition, according to the press service, Vuhlehirska thermal power plant has resumed operations, the station needs coal, and therefore Melnykova mine in Lysychansk will begin increasing its production.

“This means the miners will have work and money,” the administration said.
