MAKO Group, owned by the eldest son of the president of Ukraine, Oleksandr Yanukovych, has no plans at present to acquire media assets, reads a report of the group.

“Due to the appearance of reports in some media reports that Oleksandr Yanukovych is interested in the acquisition of UMH Group, we officially declare that the information is untrue. At present, the shareholder in MAKO Group does not have any plans to acquire media assets. Talks on the issue are not being held,” reads the official report of the group.

As reported, earlier one of the largest media companies in Ukraine – UMH Group – and the co-owner of PrivatBank (Dnipropetrovsk) Hennadiy Boholiubov, have sold the Focus project to Ukraine’s Vertex United Group, the key owners of which are Borys Kaufman and Oleksandr Hranovsky.

UMH Group includes newspapers Argumenty i Fakty v Ukraine, Komsomolskaya Pravda v Ukraine, the weekly Korrespondent, Focus, Telenedelia. In addition, the holding holds licenses for the publication of magazines Forbes and Vogue. UMH Group also owns radio stations Avtoradio, Nashe Radia, Retro FM, information Web resources Korrespondent.net, Football.ua, Vgorode.ua, Internet portals Bigmir.net and I.ua.

MAKO Holding has been operating on the Ukrainian market since 2006. The holding invests in construction projects.

The MAKO Group as of December 31, 2012 incorporated private joint-stock company MAKO Holding, public joint-stock company VRB Bank and another 16 companies in Ukraine, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
