You're reading: MasterCard: Almost 1.7 million foreign travelers to visit Kyiv in 2013

Some 1.661 million foreign travelers will visit Kyiv in 2013, MasterCard has said.

“Kyiv is 64th in the Global Destination Cities Index, and among European cities it is 21st. According to researchers, 11,660,562 foreign travelers will visit the capital of Ukraine in 2013. Some $1,686 will be spent during one visit on average,” reads a press release of MasterCard, referring to the results of its third annual study.

According to the study, the most popular city in the world this year is Bangkok, while in 2012 it was London. This year London was 25,000 visitors short of taking the first position (around 1%).

“The top five cities with the largest number of foreign visitors in 2013 include Bangkok, London, Paris, Singapore and New York,” reads the press release.

The company said that in Europe London is followed by Paris, Istanbul, Barcelona and Milan.

“The pace of growth of Istanbul is so great that it could overtake Paris in 2016. The most quickly developing city in Western Europe in aircraft transportation is Berlin, which is 17th,” reads the release.

According to the report, the MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index is compiled using international flight and flight capacity information.
