You're reading: Microsoft Ukraine suing Ukrainian companies for Hr 1 million for pirated software

Microsoft Ukraine has sued Ukrainian companies for Hr 1 million in total for the use of unlicensed software by US-based Microsoft, Microsoft Ukraine said in a statement. 

In general, 12 claims have been lodged at the courts in Ukraine, it said.

“After a recent victory in court over municipally owned Uzhgorod International Airport (a court ordered the defendant to pay Hr 66,000 in compensation), a legal representative of Microsoft has filed another 12 claims at Ukrainian commercial courts,” reads the statement.

Microsoft Ukraine says that most copyright violators are based in Dnipropetrovsk region, and in particular include enterprises such as Dnipromotor, Ukrbudproekt, Agropromenergo and others.

Microsoft Ukraine is part of US-based Microsoft Corporation, and it has been working in Ukraine since 2003. Its business tasks include the development of the software market, as well as the implementation and localization of advanced technologies in Ukraine.
