Russian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov has predicted that Ukraine and Russia will soon set up a joint venture in the aircraft industry.

"The creation of a joint venture on a fifty-fifty basis is possible in the future, which will be involved in the marketing promotion of products that are constructed at Antonov [in Kyiv, currently the Antonov State Enterprise] and produced in Russia," he said at a news conference in Kyiv on Friday.

The diplomat noted that the tasks of this joint venture could be the optimized completion of production with the necessary elements and their servicing after sales.

Zurabov also noted that the prospects of Ukrainian-Russian cooperation in the aircraft industry remained unchanged.

"I continue to think that these prospects currently remain unchanged, given that Ukraine has a sufficiently unique aviation complex. First of all, the issue concerns, of course, the Antonov complex, which produces a sufficiently wide number of aircraft," he said.
