Experts of mobile operator MTS Ukraine assess the total sum of investment in the restoration of communications services in the eastern part of the country at around Hr 10 million.

The press service of the operator reported that today MTS restored 56 communications facilities in the eastern part of Ukraine, including 31 in Donetsk and 25 in Luhansk oblasts. Communications were restored in some parts of settlements of Starobesheve, Maryinka and Novoazovsk districts in Donetsk oblast and some settlements in Luhansk oblast.

“No one knows how many destroyed facilities will appear after the end of armed hostilities. We know how many facilities do not operate. However, it is unknown if they are simply disconnected from power, or were shelled and destroyed as near Ilovaisk and Saur-Mohyla,” reads the report, citing head of the network planning and development department at MTS Ukraine, Oleksandr Ananyev.

He said that the operator would be able to revise all base stations only after end of armed hostilities.

“According to our calculations, it will take at least three months to carry out the work,” he said.

MTS Ukraine is a subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems (Russia).
