National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy has announced an open tender to secure legal services to protect its rights and interests in settling the dispute with Merchant International Company Ltd. (the United States) in an English court and the European Court of Human Rights.

The holding said that the expected cost of the services is Hr 13.2 billion. The services are to be provided by Dec. 13, 2015.

The main task to be realized is the provision of the interests of the state holding during hearings of foreign jurisdiction courts of all instances regarding the forced execution of a court ruling rendered against the defendant in absentia of Feb. 28, 2011 (to collect $24.7 million from Naftogaz Ukrainy) issued in the case initiated by Merchant Corporation.

The legal services on the provision of the holding’s interests in the European Court of Human Rights regarding a claim filed on Oct. 1, 2012 regarding the violation of the Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms by Britain.
