China said it's interested in the success of Ukraine's European integration course.

China is interested in the success of Ukraine's European integration course, Ukraine's Ambassador to China Oleh Diomin has said.

"China is, of course, interested in Ukraine's integration with Europe. They see Ukraine as the gates to Europe, frankly speaking," he told Ukrainian journalists at a press briefing in Sian (China), while commenting on Beijing's reaction to the pause in the preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

"China, as an absolutely civilized country, responds very calmly and in a civilized manner to the decisions of its friends and partners. You won't find any peculiar comments on the issue in the local press," he said.

Diomin added that the creation of an economic corridor, which is actively discussed in China today and which is likely to run through Kazakhstan and Central Asia, could also head for Europe across Ukraine in future. The diplomat said that this project was well suited to the country's European ambitions.

"I think that if it is realized, it will contribute to our development," Diomin said.
