You're reading: Official: Number of millionaires 25% up in Kyiv in 2011

The Kyiv agencies of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, on the results of the declaration campaign of the citizens' incomes obtained in 2011, has found that the city has 236 more millionaires more than in 2010 (a rise of 25%), the press service of the State Tax Service of Ukraine in Kyiv has reported, referring to Head of Kyiv Tax Service Iryna Nosachova.

According to the report, the general number of millionaires with Kyiv residence permits totaled 916 people in 2011, while in 2010 it was 680 people.

“The declaration campaign, which was conducted for the first time under the new Tax Code of Ukraine, finished in May 2012. In general, since the beginning of 2012, Kyiv citizens have submitted about 62,000 declarations on property and income. This is about three times more compared to the results of 2011, which testifies the growth of the consciences of our citizens,” the press service quotes Nosachova as saying.

According to her, the declared income of Kyiv millionaires in 2011 grew by Hr 3.7 billion compared to 2010, to Hr 9.6 billion.

At the same time independently this sum totaled Hr 294.5 million under submitted declarations. In turn, the tax discount to be returned to the citizens amounts to over Hr 20 million.
